SCHOOL BACKPACK PROGRAM

The New Day Community Development Corporation’s School Backpack Program is designed to support students, especially those from low-income families, by providing the school supplies they need to begin the year prepared and confident. Each year, NDCDC distributes free backpacks filled with essential classroom items to help ease the financial burden of back-to-school expenses.

For many families, the cost of school supplies can be a real challenge. When students do not have the materials they need, it can create stress at home and make it harder to fully participate in the classroom. This program helps address that need by making sure students have access to the basic tools required for learning.

Backpacks are filled with items such as notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, binders, and highlighters. When needed, we also provide calculators, rulers, and other grade-specific supplies, and in some cases uniforms, to help students be ready for school in a meaningful and practical way. These resources allow students to focus on learning rather than worrying about whether they have what they need.

The School Backpack Program is about more than supplies. It reflects our commitment to educational access, family support, and student success. By helping reduce barriers at the start of the school year, NDCDC helps create a stronger foundation for children to learn, grow, and stay engaged in school.

This program also brings people together. Volunteers, local businesses, and community partners all play a role in helping children receive the support they need. Each backpack represents more than school materials — it represents care, encouragement, and a shared investment in the future of our children.

At NDCDC, we believe every child deserves the chance to start the school year prepared and supported. Through this program, we aim to help students move into the classroom with confidence, dignity, and the tools they need to succeed.
