The New Day Community Development Legacy Scholarship Award is a signature philanthropic initiative of New Day Community Development Corporation (NDCDC) that recognizes and invests in exceptional students who demonstrate academic excellence, integrity, leadership, resilience, financial need, and a dedication to serving their communities.
Through this highly competitive scholarship program, eligible students with demonstrated financial need may receive up to $10,000 toward undergraduate tuition at an accredited college or university. NDCDC awards scholarships in accordance with the program’s established eligibility requirements, terms, and conditions.
The Legacy Scholarship reflects NDCDC’s commitment to expanding access to higher education and ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent talented students from pursuing their educational goals. By investing in promising individuals, NDCDC seeks to foster future leaders who will use their education, skills, and experiences to strengthen communities and create meaningful opportunities for others.
THE PURPOSE OF THE LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP
The Legacy Scholarship promotes educational opportunity and cultivates principled, service-oriented leaders committed to excellence, personal responsibility, and positive community impact.
In evaluating applicants, NDCDC takes a holistic approach that considers demonstrated financial need alongside the following qualities:
Academic Achievement: Intellectual curiosity, discipline, and a sustained commitment to learning.
Leadership: Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to inspire and positively influence others.
Character: Integrity, accountability, humility, and respect for others.
Resilience: Perseverance in overcoming challenges and navigating adversity.
Service: A commitment to helping others and contributing meaningfully to the community.
Potential for Impact: The capacity and aspiration to apply education, talent, and opportunity toward meaningful and lasting change.
NDCDC recognizes that leadership extends beyond titles and formal accomplishments. It is demonstrated through personal conduct, responsible decision-making, perseverance, and a willingness to use one's abilities in service of others.
THE LEGACY AWARD
NDCDC awards these scholarships to deserving students to attend colleges and universities in New York State and Connecticut. Recipients are honored as Legacy Scholars in recognition of their demonstrated merit and NDCDC’s belief in their potential for future success.
The scholarship is intended to help alleviate the financial burden of undergraduate tuition, enabling recipients to focus more fully on their education, personal development, leadership, and service. Awards are subject to applicable eligibility, enrollment, documentation, conduct, and program requirements.
The goal is not simply to help students access higher education, but to empower them to thrive academically, develop as leaders, and make a lasting difference in their communities.
NDCDC reserves the right to establish, interpret, and periodically revise reasonable eligibility criteria, documentation standards, award conditions, and participation requirements to preserve the program's integrity, effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.

The New Day Community Development Legacy Scholarship Award supports students pursuing degrees in fields that provide strong career opportunities, community impact, and long-term professional growth.

BUSINESS
FINANCE
MEDICINE
LAW
MUSIC & ARTS
ENGINEERING
STEM
(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
These fields represent areas where skilled professionals are needed and where graduates have the opportunity to make significant contributions to society.
Core Eligibility Requirements
✓ Financial Need - Demonstrate documented financial need through the required financial aid forms or other supporting documentation.
✓ Academic Achievement - Maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Official academic transcript must be submitted.
✓ Community Service - Demonstrate a meaningful commitment to serving their community through volunteer work, leadership, or civic engagement.
✓ Character and Recommendations - Strong letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors, employers, community leaders, or other individuals familiar with the applicant's academic performance, leadership, and character must be submitted.
